Who We Are
In late 2006, following the second Lebanon war and after much pondering and discussion, Femmix was founded. The idea was to create an organization that would bring women together from all corners of the Mediterranean basin, creating opportunities for dialog, cooperation, and action, thereby fostering a positive effect on the societal and political conditions in the area.
While the activities of Femmix aim to bring individual women together from neighboring countries, they also represent the prospect of proactive dialog between these nations.
Respect, trust, communication, forward thinking, and creativity… these qualities are the driving forces supporting the gatherings of the Femmix contributors. These summits are characterized by a joining of cultures, mores and traditions.
Music, art, and dance are timeless tools of communication breaking down language and cultural barriers. These arts will be employed by the women of Femmix during yearly events leading to the creation of a collaborative artistic product that they will then take back to be distributed throughout their home nations. This dissemination of cross-cultural arts has the potential to ignite a true change in thought and action.
